Blog Purge / Sale Announcement

Dear all,
I'm gonna work on the purge post tonight.
If all goes well,
the post will be scheduled for tomorrow at 9 am.

Just thought I should let you guys know.

Podz

Today's post was supposed to be nail art based on the game Angry Birds.
Well, at least that was the nail art I had promised my colleagues for a work event last Saturday.
Until I got that ticket to go see the F1 practice.
So we compromised and I ended up with nails that reflected our event's theme colours.

Polishes used were:

Orly Green Apple

OPI Osaka-to-Me Orange
(and I totally don't get this name at all)

3 coats each for both the colours + 1 coat Seche Vite TC
And my friend promptly lent me the thumbdrive for the photo shoot.
She wanted to make sure that my readers could understand why those colours were chosen.

heh.
I didn't tell any of my colleagues,
but I was kinda reminded of citrus fruits whenever I looked at my nails

and this reminded me of a particular nail art idea that I had in mind before.
I'll have to find the time to get down to it one day.

and heh.
As for the Angry Birds nail art?
I'll see what I can do about it.
That one will take time.
Loads of it.

China Glaze Trendsetter

All right.
This post today is totally off from this month's theme.
There is no way i am going to purge this pretty,
but I was just too excited when it arrived that I just had use it for a manicure

China Glaze Trendsetter

Another bottle pic to show the awesome gold glass flecks.

2 coats + 1 coat Seche Vite TC

Mustard-green with awesome gold glass-flecks that China Glaze does so well.
*Sigh*
I'm a sucker for such weird colours

Although I can appreciate that not everyone can take these sort of colours.
I had a few people who asked me why I chose something that reminded them of gold-laced poop.
LOL!

But I loved that gold-laced poop so much,
I had it on for a solid 3 days before I had to take it off (reluctantly) for a promised manicure.

Someone also asked me about China Glaze polishes.
In fact, I was quite erm... stunned by the question.
The person actually asked if China Glaze was a brand from China?!
and she tacked on another follow-up question that left me astounded.
"Why do you want to use something from China? Aren't their stuff terrible? You should just buy OPI. They are the best."

First up, China Glaze is obviously not from China.
Not all things named after a country came from that country.

And sorry to burst your bubble,
but OPIs are not the best.
There are a lot of other brands out there that are just as good,
or sometimes, even better.
That is just marketing strategy that works on you people who don't bother to go find out anything.
Or who happily assume that China Glaze is from China.

Last 2 shots are taken inside the cab.

In fact, this person was actually "amazed" that China Glaze is now available at our Sephora store in Ion Orchard.
And her parting statement?
"But everyone says that OPI is the best!"

Seriously.
Don't argue with a nail blogger who owns more than 1000 bottles of polish,
changes her manicure more than twice a week,
follows up on other nail blogs,
and stalks the major nail polish companies on Facebook.

Muggles. Blah.

September Hauls

Gah. So I busted my polish budget again this month.
Sigh. But I blame it on limited editions and promotions that ain't to be missed.

Firt promo: Free international shipping from a-england.
And I've been dying to try these 2 polishes for the longest time ever:
Tristam and Lady of the Lake

Second promo: Bloggers' event discount.
SpaRitual In Pink collection in mini size:
Clarity, Knowledge and Strength.
I've just done the post on Strength yesterday.

SpaRitual Wilde collection in mini: Sacred Ground (bottle in the middle)
I've also posted the mani I did on Sacred Ground a while back.

SpaRitual Twinkle collection in mini:
Illumination (left) and Shooting Star (right)

I was damn tempted to get more actually.

Free sample size of the SpaRitual Hand Salve and Hand Serum,
which I will post review of once I finish using them

China Glaze Metro collection:
Trendsetter, Westside Warrior and Skyscraper

Trendsetter post coming right up soon too!

Then I dropped by the Elianto store to pick up Racing Green for someone,
and picked up Persian Indigo for myself as well.

Well... since I'm there right?
I might as well grab something for myself right?

Then I couldn't not get the OPI 2011 Halloween mini set!
I just had to have it!

And lastly, the limited edition Les Jeans de Chanel:
Blue Rebel, Coco Blue and Blue Boy.

Sigh. I almost talked myself out of getting this collection.
Set me back by a freaking $108,
which in itself is already more than my monthly polish budget.
But then I remembered the regret I had when I didn't get the Chanel Khakis.
And Chanel regret is the MOST EXPENSIVE regret ever.
So yeah. Those damn Chanels too.

Sigh. I shall just live on grass for a bit.

SpaRitual Strength

Today I have for you another SpaRitual polish from their 2011 In Pink Breast Cancer Awareness collection.
But let's first take a look at the promo pictures of that collection.

SpaRitual In Pink 2011

I really like this bottles shot.
Collection comprises of: Clarity, Knowledge and Strength

Clarity

Knowledge

Strength

So here's my SpaRitual Strength mani.
3 coats + 1 coat Seche Vite TC

There were still some bald patches at the 2nd coat,
but everything evened out by the 3rd.

My apologies.
I forgot to bring out my mini bottle of Strength,
so there aren't any bottle pics for this one.

Of the 3 polishes in this collection,
Strength was the first one to catch my eye.

Strength is a plum-pink base with gold foil.
Think Zoya Faye or OPI Rally Pretty Pink,
and you should get the idea.

I've got OPI Rally Pretty Pink,
so I will probably end up doing a comparison post in the near future.
I would really like to see how these 2 compare.

Unfortunately this one pulls out the lobster hands in me.
As much as I wanted to love this gorgeous colour,
its just not for me.
*sigh*

Anyway, just a reminder for my readers:

2011 Formula 1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix

Once in a while,
I'll write about how awesome my colleagues are.
Today, again, I'm going to demonstrate the awesomeness of my colleagues.

So some of them were aware that I really wanted to go watch the Formula 1 (F1 for short) Grand Prix that took place last weekend.
Unfortunately, I couldn't afford the tickets.
Not when I busted my budget shopping for other stuff.
Plus, I occasionally thought that watching it on TV is a lot more action-packed than catching it live.

So when one of them won the ticket to the Friday Practice sessions,
he very kindly passed it to me to go!
All he asked for was to have the pass back after,
cos he really liked the look of the pass.
Sure! Not a problem!

Absolutely made my day =)
My colleagues just grinned and watched me do my butt wiggle in the office.

Gate 3 to the Padang Grandstand
Actually I didn't really want to just sit around,
found it a little boring that way.
So I just walked around the entire Zone that my pass would allow.

There were several stands around selling the offical F1 merchandise.
Very very crowded.

My pics hardly show the crowd cos it was still early when I snapped these pics.
But man, as the night went on,
the crowd around these stands just swelled and swelled.

I was really tempted to get those last 2 sleeveless tanks.
Restrained myself though since I busted my shopping budget.

More mechandise.

One of the many stands erected around the race tracks for easy viewing.

And here's the first glimpse of the race car that I managed to capture on my point and shoot.
I don't own a DSLR or any of those cool cameras that were flashing about that night.
So no way I could capture a proper shot of any of those amazing race cars.

I got vids though.
Lots and lots of vids.

Pics of the race tracks along cityhall.

The Esplanade over-looking the tracks.
(The Esplanade is Singapore's performing arts venue)

Heh. Accidental shot that got 2 race cars in.

The Stamford grandstands.
I wasn't allowed in,
so could only take the pic from afar.

The Singapore waterfront skyline at night.
It looked really pretty =)

And yeah.
I walked from late afternoon till night.
Walked and gawked.

And for those who were tired of walking and gawking,
you could always drop into any one of the many restaurants and pubs along the way.
With the TV on to show the live action too!

Doesn't it look exciting from here!
All that lights and noise!
And it was definitely ear-defeafening!

And while making my way up there,
I bumped into this trio

The race track along the waterfront.

The stage at the Padang.
A lot of celebrities were invited to perform, including Shakira, Linkin Park, Boy George, etc.
Unfortunately none of these big names were scheduled to perform on Friday =(

And for budding race car enthusiasts,
you could also have a go at these computerised model race cars.

And I managed one fuzzy shot of the Ferrari race car.

But I definitely got a lot of vids like this one:
